Camilla Connolly Camilla Connolly and Master Printmaker, Paul Smith and have collaborated to create two images that reflect the vitality and intensity of vision which permeates Connolly's work. Camilla's first editioned collagraph, Gangster Girl Wedding Day, released by Art Equity in June 2005 is paired with her "just released" second edition titled, Another Prodigal Son to create a unique pair for Art Insight subscribers. This offer is strictly limited. Confirmed as one of the brightest new lights in contemporary Australian painting, Connolly explores the notion of suffering and the marginalised- drawing upon her experiences as a Kings Cross drug addict and prostitute during the 1980-90's. Connolly constructs highly evocative and dramatic artworks whose narrative often reference Australian social and art history. Her personal story and aesthetic sensibility have struck a chord with collectors and, as a consequence, her works are gaining momentum in the primary market. This, coupled with ever increasing critical recognition, has placed the artist on the Australian cultural map. Connolly’s work does not preach. She is expressive and passionate about the themes that have affected her, speaking from the heart with an undying and focused determination to make her unique mark on Australia’s cultural landscape. After her near sell-out show with Art Equity in October last year, the market appetite for this artists' work has gathered momentum throughout Australia. Camilla Connolly is one to watch.
